System requirements

Before installing, confirm your machine meets the minimum requirements. Apple Silicon (M1 and later) is fully supported. Intel Macs with a dedicated GPU also work.

Download the installer

  1. Log in to dashboard.xrlive.app.
  2. Go to Downloads in the left sidebar.
  3. Click Download for Mac — this downloads the latest .dmg disk image.

Install from the .dmg

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
  2. Drag the xRLive app icon into your Applications folder.
  3. Eject the disk image.

First launch & Gatekeeper

macOS will verify the app on first launch. If you see “xRLive cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”:
  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  2. Scroll to the Security section — you’ll see a message about xRLive being blocked.
  3. Click Open Anyway, then confirm in the dialog that appears.
This only happens once. Subsequent launches open normally.

Permissions

xRLive requests the following permissions on first use:
PermissionWhy
CameraFor visuals that use a live camera feed
MicrophoneFor visuals with audio input or beat detection
Local NetworkFor OSC, UDP, and audience interaction features
macOS shows each permission dialog the first time the relevant feature is used. You can review and change permissions any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
If you deny camera access and later want to enable it, you must go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and toggle xRLive on. The permission dialog will not appear again automatically.

First launch

  1. Open xRLive from your Applications folder or Spotlight.
  2. Sign in with your xRLive account credentials or click Continue with Google.
  3. The launcher loads and your visual library is ready.
→ See First Launch for initial setup and display configuration.

Updates

xRLive checks for updates on startup. When a new version is available, a prompt appears — click Update to apply it.
