# Install on Mac

> Download and install the xRLive Launcher on macOS

## System requirements

Before installing, confirm your machine meets the [minimum requirements](/launcher/install/system-requirements). Apple Silicon (M1 and later) is fully supported. Intel Macs with a dedicated GPU also work.

## Download the installer

1. Log in to [dashboard.xrlive.app](https://dashboard.xrlive.app).
2. Go to **Downloads** in the left sidebar.
3. Click **Download for Mac** — this downloads the latest `.dmg` disk image.

</Frame>

## Install from the .dmg

1. Open the downloaded `.dmg` file.
2. Drag the **xRLive** app icon into your **Applications** folder.
3. Eject the disk image.

## First launch & Gatekeeper

macOS will verify the app on first launch. If you see **"xRLive cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer"**:

1. Open **System Settings → Privacy & Security**.
2. Scroll to the Security section — you'll see a message about xRLive being blocked.
3. Click **Open Anyway**, then confirm in the dialog that appears.

This only happens once. Subsequent launches open normally.

## Permissions

xRLive requests the following permissions on first use:

| Permission        | Why                                             |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------- |
| **Camera** | For visuals that use a live camera feed |
| **Microphone** | For visuals with audio input or beat detection |
| **Local Network** | For OSC, UDP, and audience interaction features |

macOS shows each permission dialog the first time the relevant feature is used. You can review and change permissions any time in **System Settings → Privacy & Security**.

<Warning>
  If you deny camera access and later want to enable it, you must go to **System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera** and toggle xRLive on. The permission dialog will not appear again automatically.
</Warning>

## First launch

1. Open xRLive from your Applications folder or Spotlight.
2. Sign in with your xRLive account credentials or click **Continue with Google**.
3. The launcher loads and your visual library is ready.

→ See [First Launch](/launcher/install/first-launch) for initial setup and display configuration.

## Updates

xRLive checks for updates on startup. When a new version is available, a prompt appears — click **Update** to apply it.
